Dorm Knits for College Kids

Going off to college can be both exciting and daunting for new freshmen. It’s the first step in becoming independent and the first step towards a fruitful career. At the same time, for most it’s their first time being so far away from home, their first time without relying on their parents' immediate help, their first time doing their own laundry!

They’re going to need a lot of things to get them settled in their new dorm life: blankets, pillows, dishcloths, soap, antiseptic wipes, books, pens, pencils, a microwave, maybe even a TV. Why not show them you care by knitting them something practical and sentimental with some of these awesome dorm knit patterns for college kids?

Use a super warm knit blanket pattern and change out the colors to match your child's new university. You can pull out some old knit dishcloth patterns and give them something more unique to clean with. Or maybe you could even make them a knit pencil case with a little note to remind them to go to class.

We’ve compiled a list of some of the best knitting patterns we could find for a college freshmen, some of these knit patterns are so easy even they could try them out themselves!

Get started now! They’ll be gone before you know it.

Classes in college are a lot different from classes in high school. You don't have to ask permission to go to the bathroom, and it's usually acceptable to show up 15 minutes late with Starbucks.
