I am in the process of knitting this pattern, using the suggested yarn and size needles. It odes not appear that it will be 40 in wide. Am I doing something incorrectly or am I being deceived because it is still on the needles? Please advise.

I have never knitted anything with those big needles before but there is always a first time. I like the look the big needles create. It would be a quick blanket to make and I am sure quite warm. Thank you for the pattern.

When they mean 'wrong side, right side' does this mean instead of knitting from left to right then right to left that they are just doing left to right then turning the needles to start again on the left?

The blanket is knit flat. Right side and wrong side in this case mean which side is showing when the project is completed.

This is another one of those knitting patterns using jumbo blanket yarn that has a cost issue for me. The pattern itself is very simple and with the big needles it will work up quickly. However, the Red Heart Boutique Irresistible yarn is expensive, even from a store sale or discount place, so I would need to substitute something more affordable.

This looks like a wonderful and fun quick project, but I could not locate the required circular needles anywhere. Any suggestions? Also, there were limited choices for that bulky a yarn, if I used some that was a 6, how would that affect the blanket's outcome?

Try Amazon.com knitters pride are great ones. just type in 25mm circular knitting needles comes with a generous size 47" cable.

You can order the needles on etsy. the yarn is not bulky it is jumbo and it is discontinued.

This throw has such a great look using such an easy stitch. I think this would make a great, quick gift. I love the oatmeal color it is perfect.

I am in the process of making this, and need to learn how to join jumbo yarn skeins. I cannot find aYou Tube video for this. Do you have instructions or a link?

I could definitely use this chunky throw right now - it's about five degrees today where I live. The good thing is as soon as we thaw out it will knit up very quickly, with that jumbo yarn and size 50 needles.

Oh man, I am obsessed with this chunky throw! I would love to receive this blanket as a gift. I might have to make this for a friend's Housewarming soon.

How does this work on circular needles? Is that correct?

This is made on circular needles but knit back and forth not in the round. The circulars help support the weight of those big fat stitches. I have made this throw 3 times for house warming gifts. It is super dramatic to look at and people think what a lot of work you must have put into it, when in fact it is a really simple pattern. Shhhhh, don't tell anyone- take the credit.

How could I change the pattern if using straight needles? Also, what size would you suggest?

Hi Nina, you do not need to change the pattern for straight needles. The straight needles would be the same size as in the pattern, size 50. However, I am pretty sure you will not be able for fit all 30 stitches on the straight needles. Also, the blanket it going to be really heavy and it will be hard to lift and work with the straights.

I LOVE how huge the stitches in this blanket are. Totally rustic and chic. I think I need this for my couch...

This blanket would make an EXCELLENT gift...to myself! I just bookmarked this so I can come back to it later!
