Gauge14 sts = 4" [10 cm]; 18 rows = 4" [10 cm] in Stockinette stitch. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.

Instructions
NOTE
Bag is worked back and forth in rows in two pieces which are sewn together. Straps are worked separately and are sewn on to joined bag.
SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS
ssk: (1 st decrease) Slip next two stitches knitwise to right needle, insert point of left needle through front of sts, knit these sts together through back loop
Bag (make 2)
Cast on 52 sts.
Knit 6 rows (3 ridges on right side), end with a wrong side row.
Row 1 (Right Side): K1, place marker, *k1, yo, k2tog; repeat from * to last 3 sts, k2, place marker, k1.
Row 2 and 4: K1, slip marker, purl to last st, slip marker, k1.
Row 3: K1, slip marker, *k1, ssk, yo; repeat from * to last 3 sts, k2, slip marker, k1.
Rows 5-8: Repeat Rows 1-4 once more.
Rows 9-12: Knit.
Repeat Rows 1-12 for a total of 6 times.
Repeat Rows 1-8.
Knit 6 rows. Bind off.
Straps (make 2)
Cast on 64 sts.
Knit 2 rows.
Purl 3 rows.
Knit 2 rows.
Bind off.
Fold strap in half lengthwise and sew cast-on edge to bind-off edge to double thickness.
Finishing
Sew Bag pieces together along cast-on and side edges, leaving bind-off edge unsewn.
Place each short end of Strap inside of Bag, 2½" [6 cm] from side edge, and sew in place. Repeat for second Strap at opposite side edge. Weave in ends.
