I see that 87 sts are for the shall pictured. How many sts if I want another cable to make the shall wider?

The widest cable in the pattern is 8 sts so you would need to add at least 8 stitches to your stitch count.

How many stitches to cast on to make this beautiful shawl wider and longer?

it sayis there that 87 sts
