Calming Chevron Knit Blanket Pattern

The Calming Chevron Knit Blanket Pattern creates a beautiful piece of knitting to show off in your home. It will be gorgeous folded over the back of the couch and cozy for your lap. Unlike a lot of chevron patterns, this blanket pattern uses soft neutral colors, which allows for greater relaxation and calm. But, if you are looking for a bit of pizzazz, you can always replace the colors with bright, popping ones. It is completely up to your creative impulse. Get your needles ready!

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Gauge15 sts = 4" [10 cm]; 26 rows (13 ridges) = 4" [10 cm] in Garter stitch

Finished Size45" [114cm] x 55" [139cm]

RED HEART® Dreamy™: 2 balls 8341 Grey A, 2 balls 8311 Ivory B, and 1 ball 8360 Dark Taupe C
Susan Bates® Circular Knitting Needle: 6mm [US 10], 29" [74cm] long
Yarn needle

Note

Throw is worked back and forth in rows. Circular needle is used to accommodate large number of stitches.

Instructions

With A, cast on 195 sts.

Row 1 And All Right Side Rows: *K2tog, k3, [kfb] twice, k4, ssk; repeat from * across.

Row 2 And All Wrong Side Rows: Knit.

Repeat Rows 1-2 until Throw measures 7" [18 cm] from beginning, ending with a wrong side row.
Change to B and work for 5" [12.5 cm], ending with a wrong side row.
Change to C and work for 3" [7.5 cm], ending with a wrong side row.
Change to B and work for 5" [12.5 cm], ending with a wrong side row.
Change to C and work for 3" [7.5 cm], ending with a wrong side row.
Change to A and work for 9" [23 cm], ending with a wrong side row.
Change to C and work for 3" [7.5 cm], ending with a wrong side row.
Change to B work for 5" [12.5 cm], ending with a wrong side row.
Change to C work for 3" [7.5 cm], ending with a wrong side row.
Change to B work for 5" [12.5 cm], ending with a wrong side row.
Change to A work for 7" [18 cm], ending with a wrong side row.

Bind off.

Weave in ends.

Abbreviations

kfb: knit 1 front and back (increase). Knit next st, then knit it through back loop.

ssk: (1 st decrease) Slip next two stitches knitwise to right needle, insert point of left needle through front of sts, knit these sts together through back loop.

k: knit

k2tog: knit 2 sts together

tog: together

I love chevron patterns and this blanket or throw is a really nice one. The pattern is not hard to do and the color combinations work very well with the big sections broken up by the smaller sections in brown. Although the brushed Dreamy yarn is nice, I'm sure you could substitute almost any worsted weight yarn and it would still look good.
