    Contrast B (04222 Fern) 1 ball

    Contrast C (04705 Crimson) 1 ball
  • Size 4 mm (U.S. 6) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge.
  • Pair of size 4 mm (U.S. 6) double-pointed knitting needles for I-cord. 4 ins [10 cm] of ¼ inch [.5 cm] wide elastic.

Pattern

LEAF (make 2 with A and 1 with B).

Cast on 2 sts.
1st row:(RS). Inc 1 st in first st. K1. 3 sts.
2nd row:P3.
3rd row:(K1. M1) twice. K1. 5 sts.
4th row:P5.
5th row:K2. M1. K1. M1. K2. 7 sts.
6th row:P7.
7th row:Cast off 2 sts. K5 (including st on needle after cast off).
8th row:Cast off 2 sts. P3 (including st on needle after cast off).
9th to 12th rows:As 3rd to 6th rows.
13th row:K3. M1. K1. M1. K3. 9 sts.
14th row:P9.
15th row:Cast off 2 sts. K7 (including st on needle after cast off).

With C, cast on 1 st.

5th row:K1. Sl1. K2tog. psso. K1. 3 sts.

Tie yarn ends at beg and end of work tog tightly on WS to make ‘berry’ shape.

I-Cord

With A and pair of double-pointed needles, cast on 5 sts.
Next row:K5. Do not turn. Slide sts to other end of needle.
Rep last row (i-cord) until cord measures 4 ins [10 cm].
Cast off.

Finishing

Insert elastic through I-cord and adjust to 3 ins [7.5 cm] long.
Sew ends of elastic tog securely. Sew cast on and cast off edges of I-cord tog.
With A or B, embroider Leaves as shown down center of Leaf using outline stitch. Attach Leaves and Berries to I-cord as shown in picture.
