I'm having a problem with the gauge. I'm knitting the XL size, I made a gauge swatch with the recommended US 4 (3.5mm) needles and it was way too small. I kept swatching up until I ended up with US 8 (5.00mm) needles. I'm nearly finished with the yoke, but it's still looking a bit small. I'll probably need to use an even larger size needle to complete the sweater. I usually only need to size up one size to get the proper gauge. I'm hoping it will turn out ok.

I've been looking for a cold weather sweater pattern and wasn't sure what I was looking for, but I think this is it. I like that the pattern is written fully for each size, so it's easy to read exactly where you are. I will definitely put this on my list and hopefully at least get started on it before cold weather gets here.

I very much liked this sweater. However, I am wondering why some patterns must be downloaded in another program.

Not sure what you mean by "downloaded in another program"-there are no patterns on this site, this site provides links to patterns available on the internet. If you are in fact getting a message to download in a particular format, then there is a software issue with the device you are using, for most sites on the internet you must have all current software and updates already downloaded to your device. Hope this helps.
