Perfect Prayer Shawl

Many people have come to recognize the soothing power of knitting and the many health benefits it can bring.  The repetitive nature of the stitches has been compared to meditating, and most knitters report a calming feeling associated with the craft.

If you also happen to be religious, you can turn the meditative power of knitting towards prayer, with the help of prayer shawl patterns.  The main difference between a regular knit shawl pattern and a prayer shawl pattern is intent; prayer shawls are intended to be worked with a particular prayer or passage in mind.  Once the prayer shawl is completed, it's a wearable knit that will bless its wearer with the prayers said during the creation of the shawl.

Knitters of all religions can enjoy the relaxing benefits of making a prayer shawl; all you need is a good knit shawl pattern and a favorite prayer. We’ve collected some of our most elegant shawl patterns to get your prayer shawl journey started off on the right foot.

I am one of those people that find it very relaxing to just sit quietly and either knit or crochet. It is very therapeutic just the same as prayer and meditation is relaxing. I see that prayer shawls are popular, but I have never made one myself. I am just now learning the true meaning of what a prayer shawl is.
