A button gives this knit shawl pattern its shape, so all you have to do is knit a rectangle. The plain form of this shawl makes it a great way to show off gorgeous yarns. 110 stitches is a lot for flat needles, but I like this look and have a perfect yarn for it! If it was knitted sideways instead of long, how many stitches would it take, and could stockinette stitch still be used?

The pattern states it was knit flat, not that it uses flat needles, the pattern calls for a long circular needle. Knitting it the way you want in stocking stitch would not work out, the stitches would be running the wrong way and it would lose the give of the pattern.

I realize that someone was trying to make an easy pattern for a new knitter, and, as such, this would work... But it is so blocky that I do not feel it would flatter most figures. Perhaps, if one made a medium for a small figure and wrapped it very loosely and hooked it with a shawl pin, then it would look a lot like the bottom picture in the page with the instructions. However, made like it was shown here. ... I think a new knitter might be very disappointed in the look of it, and give up knitting as something that is not flattering.... I would prefer to see easy pieces that are so elegant/flattering, etc, that they could not help but to give the new knitter such pride and joy that she/he would be addicted forever! I don't know how to create new patterns, but for those of you that can, I would ask you to consider the above-request. Thanks!

Absolutely awful!
