This is a pretty pattern but II cant get the stitch count to work with a cast-on of 21. What could I be doing wrong?

It's not you, the 21 cast on only works for the set up, not the pattern. It's not working because after you work the border stitches, you have an uneven number, but for the pattern to work its must be an even number.

Nice scarf pattern. You can not tell from the photo how lacy it is but with the chunky yarn it should be warm. It is an easy pattern to follow and should knit up quickly. It is cold here in NYC so scarves are always needed. I like to knit a scarf and matching hat. I also knit for charity and this pattern will be a big hit. Thank you.

I'm echoing annieb2 - why is there no photograph. It sounds lovely, and I love textures in what I knit, but I do appreciate seeing even a small photograph.

This is a lovely textured scarf pattern, a little lacy but still warm enough using bulky/chunky yarn. It's nice in the neutral color, goes with most coats, but I think it would be pretty in white or pastels too. I also like that it doesn't have a right side or wrong side, meaning you can wear it how you like it and it still looks good.

Hi! Just an observation as I begin to make this lovely pattern. I believe the Row 1 that sets up the pattern should be designated as Right Side instead of Wrong Side (not the one that is part of the dewdrop pattern). Because otherwise when you then start the first row of the dewdrop pattern you'd have 2 Wrong Sides together which doesn't make sense. So you cast on, knit 2 rows then Row 1 is on the RIGHT Side and then Row 1 of the dewdrop pattern is on the Wrong Side. Thanks!

Sorry, my bad! Just realized the First Rows are both for the Dewdrop stitch. I was confused but get it now. Disregard my previous comment...

I'm still confused. Are there two row 1's?

Yes, there is a set up row 1 and a pattern row 1. You just do the set row 1 to get started, then just follow the directions for the subsequent rows. Happy knitting.
