The Seed Stitch Knit Beret is a free knitting pattern perfect for beginners who want to move beyond the stockinette and rib stitches. This easy design created a pretty pebbled texture. The self striping yarn in rich browns with a touch of turquoise is quite stunning. This easy knit hat pattern is designed to be slouchy, but you can also have it sit on the top of your head by reducing the length. The pom pom at the top of the seed stitch beret also adds a bit of fun and whimsy. This hat is perfect for both fall and winter, so start knitting now and wear this piece all season long.

I prefer berets to the so-called slouchy hats that are just extra long beanies that flop over at the top. Do not consider them real slouchies. I'm always looking for new beret patterns so thanks for this one.

Seed stitch for texture, a slouchy beret for style, and a pompom embellishment - what's not to like about this hat? I really like the self-patterning yarn that was chosen for the photo, but I bet this pattern would look good in any colorway. With the bulky/chunky yarn it should be soft and super cozy too.

The beret looks like a comfortable slouchy hat with a pom pom added for charm! The moss stitch pattern on the earthy brown variegated yarn gives a nice textured look that I am sure feels great to the touch as well. Can't wait to try making this one for my daughter!

Love this use of self striping yarn. The slightly slouchy style is so NOW. Circular needles and double points are the best method for knitting caps. Well, that's my personal opinion.

Looking forward to knitting and wearing this beret - it has great appeal and style
