This is a lovely little top that could be worn day or evening. While the suggested yarn contains some merino wool and is bound to be super soft, I would probably make it out of a cotton bamboo rayon blend, or silk depending on the occasion. Just make sure to swatch the yarn first to reach the correct gauge. It would also be pretty in a self striping yarn, let your imagination soar.
