Gauge13 sts x 18 rows = 4" (10.2cm) in St st using size 9 needle, after blocking. Save time, check your gauge.

Finished SizeDepth in center: 14¾" (38cm); Width from end to end: 54" (137cm)

Pattern Notes

  • Shawl is worked from the bottom up.
  • Short-rows are used to shape the crescent.
  • Sl all sts p-wise with yarn in back.

With size 10 needle, CO 281 sts; do not join.

Switch to size 9 needle.

Work Rows 1-8 of diamond lace pat 3 times—pat will be rep 28 times across row.

Dec Row (RS): K1, *ssk, k5, k2tog, k1; rep from * to end—225 sts rem.
Next Row (WS): K.

  1. Shape Shawl With Short-Rows

    Row 1: K117, turn.
    Row 2: Sl 1, p8, turn.
    Row 3: Sl 1, k8, k2tog, k3, turn.
    Row 4: Sl 1, k11, ssk, k3, turn.
    Row 5: Sl 1, k to 1 st before gap, k2tog, k3, turn.
    Row 6: Sl 1, p to 1 st before gap, ssp, p3, turn.
    Row 7: Rep Row 5.
    Row 8: Sl 1, k to 1 st before gap, ssk, k3, turn.

    Rep Rows 5-8 eleven more times—13 ridges.

The pattern as written here is missing rows 5-8 on the lace pattern. I went to willow yarns website and found the missing information.

This pattern is easier than it looks. It will knit up quickly as well since you only repeat the diamond lace pattern a few times. I love lace designs in shawls. It adds something special. I also like to work with linen. My friends will want this shawl. Thank you.
