These teacup matching place mats and coasters are DIY home decor done right. These would be an adorable addition to any kitchen for a fun and playful feel. This pattern includes instructions for DIY drink coasters as well as place mats that have a cute teacup details throughout. Any guests to your kitchen will be amazed that you made these yourself. With dishware in matching colors, you will have a lovely table set-up that will make your decor cohesive and beautiful. Knitting Needle Size7 or 4.5 mm

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Gauge1 stitches, 2 rows, 3 inches. stockinette stitch

 

Materials:
Place Mats (Makes 4)

  • Lily® Sugar’n Cream (2.5 oz/70.9 g)
  • Main Color (MC): (White) 6 balls
  • Contrast A: (Blue) 1 ball
  • Contrast B: (Green) 1 ball

Coasters (Makes 4)

  • Lily® Sugar’n Cream (2.5 oz/70.9 g)
  • Main Color (MC) (White) 2 balls
  • Contrast A (Blue) 1 ball
  • Contrast B (Green) 1 ball

 

  • Size 4.5 mm (U.S. 7) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge

 

Gauge:
20 sts and 26 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in stocking st.

 

Instructions:

Place Mat:
With MC, cast on 57 sts.
1st row: (RS). K1. *P1. K1. Rep from * to end of row. This row forms seed st pat.
Work a further 6 rows in seed st pat.
Next row: (WS). Seed st pat across 11 sts. Inc 1 st in next st. Seed st pat across next 29 sts. Inc 1 st in next st.
Pat to end of row. 59 sts.

Proceed as follows:
**1st row: Pat 6 sts. K11. Pat to last 17 sts. K11. Pat to end of row.
2nd row: Pat 6 sts. P11. Pat to last 17 sts. P11. Pat to end of row.**
Rep last 2 rows 4 times more, then 1st row once.
Next row: (WS). Pat 11 sts. K2tog. Pat 29 sts. K2tog. Pat to end of row. 57 sts.

Work 4 rows in seed st.
***With A, work 2 rows in stocking st.
Next row: (RS). With MC, knit. With MC, work 3 rows in seed st pat. With B, work 2 rows in stocking st.
Next row: (RS). With MC, knit.***
Proceed in seed st pat until work from beg measures 12½ ins [32 cm] ending with RS facing for next row.

With B, work 2 rows in stocking st.
Next row: (RS). With MC, knit. With MC, work 3 rows in seed st pat. With A, work 2 rows in stocking st.
Next row: (RS). With MC, knit. Work 2 rows in seed st pat.
Next row: (WS). Pat 11 sts. Inc 1 st in next st. Pat 29 sts. Inc 1 st in next st. Pat to end of row. 59 sts. Rep from ** to ** 5 times.
Next row: (RS). Pat 6 sts. K11. Pat to last 17 sts. K11. Pat to end of row.
Next row: Pat 11 sts. K2tog. Pat 29 sts. K2tog. Pat to end of row. 57 sts. Work 8 rows in seed st pat. Cast off in pat.

FINISHING
With A and B, embroider tea cup over stocking st areas using stem st.

 

Coaster
With MC, cast on 21 sts. Proceed in seed st pat as given for Place Mat for 7 rows.
Next row: (WS). Pat 11 sts. Inc 1 st in next st. Pat to end of row. 22 sts.

Proceed as follows:
1st row: Pat 5 sts. K12. Pat to end of row.
2nd row: Pat 5 sts. P12. Pat to end of row.
Rep last 2 rows 5 times more, then 1st row once.
Next row: (WS). Pat 11 sts. Work 2tog. Pat to end of row. 21 sts.
Cont in seed st for 8 rows. Cast off.

FINISHING
With A and B, embroider tea cup over stocking st area using stem st.
