It's very frustrating trying to download this pattern. It makes me wonder how many mistakes how many problems there are with their patterns.

Please find patterns where you do not have to sign up and give so much info, thank you

Super cute hat - I love the design. I can't wait to cast on!

Please find this pattern here on my free patterns page: http://www.sweaterbabe.com/free-knitting-patterns/?sort=newest Thanks! SweaterBabe

I downloaded the pattern just fine, and I love the SweaterBabe website. They have a lot of really intricate patterns that are on trend with current fashion. This hat looked just like the picture when I finished it.

This pattern no longer is available.

We just updated the pattern link. Sorry for the inconvenience! - Editors of AllFreeKnitting

I was able to download this pattern with ease. It is very attractive and I am beginning to knit it. However, I am unable to understand the first increase row. No matter how I add up the increases, it comes out to be more than the 8 needed. The double parenthesis confuse me. Could someone help me understand this row. Thank you.

You are correct. Following the pattern as written will add a bunch more stitches (I didn't add them all up). I have not read the whole pattern but in general, I would divide up the 62 stitches by 8 and increase that way, giving you 8 increases evenly spaced.

The pattern calls for multiples of 10 stitches so when you increase, just be sure you can divide your number of stitches by 10. That "ribbing" or "border" is very forgiving so you shouldn't have any problems increasing 8 stitches.

for this pattern, go to http://www.classiceliteyarns.com/WebLetter/233/MonteraSlouchyHat.pd and it's there, free - great idea - can't wait to complete it

I just finished this hat, it went quickly. How did you block your hat? Mine fits tightly on my head and I know I got the gauge right. But absolutely no slouch. I'm thinking of a dinner plate?

I am in the middle of knitting this hat and it is wonderful, fun to do and it is beautiful. I used circular needle rather than double points, I do not like double points, circular needles are more comfortable with arthritis.
