really like the idea that this uses up left over yarn - as for the right length of circular needles, I have found 6" circular but found them awkward to work with I just slip the needle out of through the side and keep knitting so the somewhat too long needle is not a problem

(new to knitting on circular needles) It says this is on circular needles but the shortest ones you can get are 9 inches right? Wouldn't that be too long then for this project?
