Exploding Flower Baby Blanket

Updated November 28, 2022
Exploding Flower Baby Blanket

Greet the newest member of your family with the gorgeous Exploding Flower Baby Blanket. The big flower pattern on this knit baby blanket pattern is shaped using a simple lace. This blanket is a cute way to wrap up your baby. The flower pattern is easy to follow, making this project a perfect gift for the expectant mother to knit. Its interesting enough to hold your interest, but basic enough not to demand too much of your attention.

On the designers / bloggers page, this afghan is called the Lotus baby blanket. I prefer that name over exploding flower. Exploding has a bad connotation attached to it with all the bad news lately so we probably want to stay away from that word. This is a tightly woven blanket except for the areas of the design.

This pattern is really pretty but definitely not for beginners. I will have to try it when I can really sit and concentrate. I have never used that cast on method but it is always good to learn something new. I still like the pattern although it is a bit confusing. Once made though it will make an unique blanket.

The exploding flower blanket picture is not the same as the pattern, please can you sort this out as I like the picture on this page and the pattern you send us to is for something different

Hello M Davies, the image now accurately reflects the pattern on the designer's blog. Our apologies for the inconvenience. -Editors of AllFreeKnitting

This pic is not the same pattern as the link leads to. Both nice but be aware

Good morning, can i get the written pattern or PDF pattern for bordeaux exploding flower blanket? I can't find it. Many many thanks

It seems like a nice pattern, easy and lacy but I would like to make changes. I think there will be too many stitches for me to knit as this blanket grows bigger, so I will knit four smaller squares instead of one and join them together to make one big blanket. I think then I will call that blanket, Exploding Flowers Blanket.

I meant PDF download sorry.

Hi Grandmax3, Thank you for leaving a message. You don't necessarily have to download the pattern to get it. You can print it by either using the print option at the bottom of the pattern or by highlighting the pattern with your cursor. Then select copy. Open up a Word doc and paste it into there. Then you can print. I hope this helps a bit. Happy knitting! - editors of AllFreeKnitting

I don't know who decided this should be considered an "easy" pattern. In order to make this blanket, you need to know how to do the magic loop, knit on dpns, and do the disappearing loop method. You need to be able to do the following stitches, K, P, K2tog, Ssk, Sl k2tog psso, K1f&b, and K tbl. If you know how to do all of these things, you should be all set.

I can't get it to download first of all. someone email me so I know how to get it. I don't want to do the ODF download thing. thanks to whomever!
