If you're an experienced knitter looking for a challenge, do yourself a favor and check out the Classical Elegance Cable Dress. The lovely design of this dress, featuring classic cables, is perfect for both professional and evening wear. This free knit dress pattern is worked from the top down in a 2-color cable pattern, in rounds, without seams. Sleeves are also worked in the round. The designer used a solid color yarn as the main color and self-striping yarn as a contrast color - both with long color changes. However, it is possible to use a solid color, hand dyed, or self-striping yarn with shorter color changes as long as the colors contrast enough to highlight the pattern. This dress is a work of art. It would take some concentration to make but actually the directions look easy to comprehend. I like things knit on small needle because I like how the stitches come out - well defined. It is not a pattern that you can just whip up but made right it will last for years. I would not make an actual dress, just a long top. You can not use cheap yarn for this either if you are putting to put so much time in it. I think it will be worth it. Thank you.

What a classic cable dress that is great for both professional and evening wear. The cables add interest, and the vertical stripes create a slimming effect. This is a pretty advanced pattern and it will require at least some experience with cables before tackling this pattern.

What a unique dress. I can't imagine how long this would take to make, but it's a lovely and eye-catching design. Very memorable.
