Merlot Ribbed Vest

By: Chris from Chris Knits in Niagara

This attractive, easy knit vest pattern is the perfect shade of red for the holidays. The Merlot Ribbed Vest is a classic layering piece that looks great over shirts or underneath a jacket. This slimming vest has a v-neck opening with ribbed edging and a sleek row of buttons for added appeal. We love the Merlot Ribbed Vest in the festive red color shown, but any sport or DK weight yarn works, too.

My mom always wore vests, and now that I am not so young anymore, I understand how warm and practical they are. This little vest is an easy knit and tailored enough to wear to work with a skirt while casual enough wear with a pair of jeans.

I'm so glad I found this pattern! I bought several skeins of DK in the same color, Merlot. Wasn't sure what I would make with the yarn, as a birthday gift to a friend. This vest, I'm sure, will be worn over and over again. It's simple and won't clash with whatever is worn under it. A great project for a beginner knitter.
