I am still puzzled on the pattern directions. I am not sure what row 5 should be. And then what are rows 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, etc.? Would someone reply with what these rows should be? I have asked several very experienced knitters and they also think the pattern is not clear. Thank you so very much for your help.

This is an advanced pattern that has you working multiple sets of instructions at the same time To accomplish this you are going to work through the pattern by following the instructions row by row for each section mentioned so you work row of set up pattern with row of the lace stitch pattern while working the shaping pattern every forth row as indicated on the instructions When you get to the sts you will use the center until there are sts on the needles then continue with the pattern as instructed and established What I suggest to my advanced students is to cut and copy each rows information into a windows document to create a row by row pattern that makes it much easier to follow if you do not have windows documents this could be accomplished by cut and copy into an email that you send yourself and youRead More can print from either the windows document or the email Happy knitting

I have had the same struggles as you are having. Am hoping someone would be able to help us.

I love this pattern and I am working on it and NEED HELP I took it apart times because I keep getting lost where I need to be using the Special Stitch lace stitch In the instructions under Special Stitch it says Lace Stitch multiple of sts Not sure what they mean When you get to row beginning shawl pattern the pattern says to work across row in pattern as established I am guessing the established pattern is the Special Stitch lace stitches - The pattern says to increase every th row and work rows in established pattern Again I am assuming its the Special Stitch I am loosing where I need to be and loosing sts when it says I should have xx amount of stitches Between adding a sts YO k tog YO sk p and ssk its no wonder I keep loosing sts Row pattern says you shouldRead More be on the right side Not problem starting out but when you get back to row using the lace pattern I am not on the right side Has anyone out there knitted this pattern shimmering rose shawl and understands the pattern Any help would be great Thanks

I think I can help The means that the pattern repeat is sts stitch the stitch is usually at the beginning or the end in this case it is at the end You are working the increase row every th row which means you will do that first work the pattern row and do the increase indicated at the end so your th row will always be the same at the beginning and the end only with a row pattern the row increase is going to move around a few times if you are losing or gaining stitches you may be dropping your yo's from the previous row you can't do that the yo is serving two purposes in this pattern it is creating the eyelet and it is providing the stitch needed for the next row in the pattern if you are gaining stitches you could be unintentionally adding anRead More extra yo If you are having trouble telling the right side from the wrong side placing a safety pin on the right side will help with that The wrong side will have all the bumps on it or as I tell my young brownies and girl guides that I teach to knit it will be the ugly side Hope this helps someone
