This is a quick and easy pattern. The directions are for it knit flat lengthwise, then turned and the edges seamed together. However, you could also knit it in the round, and turn before you join and start the second row. That's probably what I would do, as I find circular needles easier to work with on large projects.

If you did this, you would have the ridges running horizontally rather than vertically, unless you used a rib stitch instead of garter stitch

This one looks like another really fast and simple pattern, which is the kind I love! I think it would look awesome in a pure white yarn, but other colors would be cool, too. It would be the best of both worlds it's fashionable as well as very quick to create.
