It would be nice to have trivets like that around when I need them. All I have are the metal ones and I don't have a good place to store them. These can be tossed in a drawer with potholders and so on. They look easy enough to do, too. I don't have cord like that, but I might try t-shirt yarn.

I fell in love with this pattern as soon as I saw it! My mom's birthday isn't until October, but I think I'm going to get started on her gift right now! She will love the fun, natural look of these trivets.

I have not done finger knitting before so this looks like a simple beginner project to try. The blog gives lots of photos with the instructions so it should be easy to do. I probably have some of this cotton cord or a similar kind of cord around the house already.
