Skate Ornament

By: Laura Doty from Creating Laura

Looking for a fun, thoughtful gift for a fellow ice ballerina? Look no further than the Skate Ornament. This simple, cute ice skate ornament pattern is sure to delight skaters and non-skaters alike. With a crafty twist on the old paper clip and a few quick stitches, you can transform that bit of left-over yarn into a quirky DIY Christmas ornament. The Skate Ornament will look great on the tree or pinned to a cork board. Knit up several and make a hanging mobile of floating ice skates. Enjoy!

I love knitting Christmas decorations and stocking fillers and this is one of the most original I've seen. It's such a clever and creative use of a paperclip. mg57's idea to make garlands or bunting is such a brilliant one. Is anyone like me? Do you start making this year's Christmas gifts in January?

Whether you knit or crochet, you can make an ice skate! This looks like an easy and quick pattern to make. Good directions. Change your needle size, knit a bunch, and make a garland for your tree, or to put above your fireplace, or hang up in your window. Make ice skate garlands for winter birthday parties. A crochet version is also available on Allfreecrochet.com.
