Knitting Needle Size10.5 or 6.5 mm, Circular Knitting Needles, Double-Pointed Knitting Needles (DPNs)

Gauge17 sts and 22 rnds = 4"/10cm over St st using size 10.5 (6.5mm) needles. Take time to check gauge.

- 2 32oz/100g skeins (each approx 151yd/138m) of Red Heart Boutique Treasure (acrylic/wool) in #1901 mosaic OR #1907 portrait a
- Size 10.5 (6.5mm) circular needle, 16"/40cm long, or size to obtain gauge
- One set (5) size 10.5 (6.5mm) double-pointed needles (dpns)
- Stitch marker
- Pompom maker (optional)
Instructions
STITCH GLOSSARY
KFB Knit into the front and back of next st-1 st increased.
K1, P1Â RIB
(over an even number of sts) RND 1 *K1, p1: rep from * to end. Rep rnd 1 for k1, p1 rib.
NOTE
Change to dpns when there are too few sts to fit comfort ably on circular needle.
Hat
With circular needle, cast on 80 sts.
Join to work in the rnd, being careful not to twist sts, and place marker (pm) for beg of rnd.
Work in k1, p1 rib for 3"/7.5cm.
NEXT (INC) RND *K9, kfb; rep from * to end of rnd-88 sts.
Cont in St st (knit every rnd) until hat measures 7"/18cm from beg.
Crown Shaping
RND 1Â *K9, k2tog; rep from *to end of rnd-80 sts.
RND 2Â AND ALL EVEN-NUMBERED RNDS Knit.
RND 3Â *K8, ssk; rep from * to end of rnd-72 sts.
RND 5Â *K7, k2tog; rep from * to end of rnd-64 sts.
RND 7Â *K6, ssk; rep from*Â to end of rnd-56Â sts.
RND 9Â *K5, k2tog; rep from *to end of rnd-48Â sts.
RND 11Â *K4, ssk; rep from*Â to end of rnd-40 sts.
RND 13Â *K3, k2tog; rep from *to end of rnd-32 sts.
RND 15Â *K2, ssk; rep from* to end of rnd-24 sts.
RND 17Â *K1, k2tog; rep from *to end of rnd-16 sts.

Break yarn, leaving a long tail.
Thread tail through rem sts and pull tightly to secure.
Finishing Pompom
Make pompom 3-4 (17.5-10cm in diameter). Sew to top of hat. Block lightly to measurements.
