Really like this hat but would like to make it without folding the brim up so that its more of a slouch hat. Could you advise how to do that..Thank-you

You could follow the directions as written but change the knit 5" to knit 7 to 8" and just not do the fold at the bottom, since typically slouch hats are at least 12" tall, however this yarn is a bulky and the recommended substitute yarn is super bulky on very small needles, so even altering the pattern is probably not going to give you the result you want.

This is a great basic hat pattern. I love the mustard yellow color it is made in, but this pattern is so versatile you could make it in anybody's favorite color as a gift and it would still look great. You could easily adapt the pattern for whatever size you need too.

This hat is beautiful and I was so disappointed this is a knitting pattern. I do know how to knit but have not done it in years. I may have to practice my knitting so I can make this hat.

While my preferred form is crochet, I have recently begun to teach knitting and have been looking for some beginner projects. This one is the first on the list as the students will be able to create something useful while learning the basic stitches themselves. Learning the basics first will help them build upon future endeavors.
