This is a classic diagonal knit garter stitch blanket, but done in bright color yarns. As others have noted, you will need to substitute another bulky or chunky yarn for the ones in the pattern, but there are so many kinds and styles available these days that shouldn't be a problem.

I am knitting this and am confused with the "even rows". I am to the middle of the afghan and working these two rows gives me a corner on the second row instead of a straight side. Love the pattern an I am using Homespun yarn. Please help me!

One can subsitue yarns for this project it will still look great.Maybe i might make it with my new utimente sweater machine instede of handknitting it or i might just handknitt it but at a later time then right now.

Please continue to put nice patterns like this out -- it's so easy to find substitute yarns for every project -- it's well written and clearly explained patterns that are most important. If I had to uses the exact yarn for posted patterns, I'd never be able to knit anything!

@Nana01: Although the yarns in this pattern may have been discontinued, this is still a great afghan pattern! We always provide the yarn weight so that you can easily substitute other yarns of the same weight. Hope this helps! -- Editor of AllFreeKnitting

the sherbert afghan is beautiful, but can't find the yarn. according to Classic Elite it came out in 2005 and is not in stores? Help?
