The Spooky Stripes Scrubby is an easy free knitting pattern that will certainly get you in the Halloween spirit. Wavy stripes in eerie hues make this the perfect knit dishcloth for the season. Knitting Needle Size7 or 4.5 mm

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Gauge17 sts = 4" [10 cm]; 22 rows = 4" [10 cm] in Chevron Stitch Pattern. Gauge is not critical for this pattern. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needle to obtain the gauge.

Finished Size7½" x 7½" [19 cm x 19 cm]

  • RED HEART® Scrubby™: 1 skein each 12 Black A, 620 Lime B, 561 Grape C
  • Susan Bates® Knitting Needles: 4.5 mm [US 7]
  • Yarn Needle

Special Stitches

K3tog = Knit 3 stitches together.
YO = Yarn over needle.
Chevron Stitch Pattern
Row 1: K2, *YO, K5, K3tog, K5, YO, K1, repeat from * to last st, K1.
Row 2: K1, P to last st, K1.
Row 3: Knit.
Row 4: Knit.
Repeat Rows 1-4 for Chevron Stitch Pattern.

Scrubby

With A, cast on 31 sts.
Rows 1-4: Work Rows 1-4 of Chevron Stitch Pattern, cut yarn leaving a 3" [8 cm] tail.
Rows 5-8: Change to B and work Rows 1-4 of Chevron Stitch Pattern, cut yarn leaving a 3" [8 cm] tail.
Rows 9-12: Change to C and work Rows 1-4 of Chevron Stitch Pattern, cut yarn leaving a 3" [8 cm] tail.
Rows 13-16: Change to B and work Rows 1-4 of Chevron Stitch Pattern, cut yarn leaving a 3" [8 cm] tail.
Rows 17-20: Change to A and work Rows 1-4 of Chevron Stitch Pattern, cut yarn leaving a 3" [8 cm] tail. Repeat Rows 5-20, 2 times more.
Next Row: Bind off all stitches loosely.

Finishing

Using Yarn Needle, weave in all tails and loose ends.

This is a cute scrubby pattern to accent your kitchen during the Halloween season! I love the contrasting colors! I am thinking with all the colors of scrubby yarn available that you could make one for every holiday season. You could also make them for an awesome present for anyone.
