The Supercozy

"Cold? Me too. Here’s a quick and cute knitting project to keep you warm. This thick, checkered cozy will fit any standard 7- by 12.5-inch hot water bottle (length including nozzle). The felted checkerboard design is both pretty and practical: Both the felting process and intarsia method result in a thicker material than a plain stockinette knit, which serves to better insulate your hot water bottle and regulate the surface temperature. If you’re new to or nervous about intarsia, this is a really good pattern to make mistakes on. The felting process will blur the texture of your knit, so don’t worry too much about lumps and irregularities. But, you absolutely must use 100% wool yarn for this project. Acrylic and plant-based yarns will not felt properly. "
