Simple Toddler Hat

By: Carla from small + friendly
Updated December 28, 2022

This adorable little knit baby hat pattern is the perfect pattern for a fledgling knitter. The Simple Toddler Hat is a basic hat your little one will love wearing almost as much as you'll love seeing him in it. The pattern calls for just one skein of worsted weight yarn and a pair of size 8 circular needles. The Simple Toddler Hat is a fun pattern for beginners as well as a mindless, TV-watching pattern for more advanced knitters. Enjoy!

Thank you!!!! I've spent hours looking for the right baby at pattern that would give tell me how to alter the size so the decreases work. Can you tell me the multiples for increasing size on the bitty booties?

Please tell me the title of the you tube video that told how to finish without using double pointed needles. My hands are arthritic so I can't hold the 4 needles. I have devised other ways to control circular or single points, but 4 needles is a bigger challenge. I would be so grateful!

It is "how to Knit a hat" by knitpicks. I hope it helps! There is a link in my post just click on the word decrease. - Carla

You can look up the "Magic Loop" method for circular needles and you can make the whole hat on a long circular needle, no dpn's. )
