  • Sizes 3.5 mm (U.S. 4) and 3.75 mm (U.S. 5) knitting needles
  • Size 3.5 mm (U.S. 4) circular knitting needle 24" [60 cm] long or size needed to obtain tension
  • Cable needle
  • 1 st holder
  • 2 stitch markers.

 


TENSION
23 sts and 29 rows = 4" [10 cm] in stocking st with larger needles.

Shape shoulders: Cast off 8 (10-10-12-14-16) sts beg next 10 rows. Leave rem 38 (34-42-38-42-46) sts on a st holder.

 


FINISHING
Pin garment pieces to measurements and cover with damp cloth leaving cloth to dry.

 


Front and back neck edgeing: Sew shoulder seams. With circular needle, beg at lower side edge, pick up and knit 146 (150-154-158-166-174) sts around Left Front to shoulder seam. K38 (34-42-38-42-46) from Back st holder, dec 7 sts evenly across.

 

 

Pick up and knit 146 (150-154-158-166-174) sts around Right Front to lower side edge. 323 (327-343-347-367-387) sts. Do not join. Working back and forth across needle in rows, proceed as follows:
Knit 2 rows (garter st). Mark position for buttonhole on Right Front.
Next row: (Buttonhole row). Knit to marker. Cast off 2 sts. Knit to end of row.
Next row: Knit, casting on 2 sts over cast off sts.
Knit 2 rows.
Cast off knitwise (WS).
