Cute hat, but it is not that hard to gather up the top and make it look like you put a little effort into it. How lazy are we?!

This is an interesting take on a classic ribbed hat pattern. Instead of decreasing for the crown, you just knit a tube, then crochet or knit a cord to tie off the top end of the hat. I like the idea because you could fit most head sizes this way, by cuffing up the bottom and tying off the top to fit.
