Sometimes you don't need a fancy pattern to make something really nice. This simple cotton dish cloth pattern is just right - enough texture from the garter stitch for washing and cleaning, a basic design that shows off self patterning cotton yarn, and best of all it works up quickly.

I haven't worked with cotton yarn before so that will make these interesting. The texture of these are just right for dish washing cloths! A dish cloth is NEVER a waste. I don't really need good excuses to work up some of these! I'll be making haste on these! I think I'll work up some of these along with some other linens for a house warming gift for the young adults in my family.

Thankyou jdmario, should have thought of that myself as I am always looking up conversions on internet, just didn't think of wool conversions!

I am from Australia and wondered if you could tell me what ply wool or cotton is used for the dishcloth and if there is a chart of comparable wool I could purchase here with other items you create. Many thanks in anticipation. Love your site

Hi geebee 7477383, There are a ton of yarn conversion charts you can look up online for free. This pattern uses 10 ply yarn. -Editors of AllFreeKnitting

Lovely pattern. Came out exactly like the photo.

I have been making this dishcloth for many years and everyone loves them. I have given them to friends and family and they always ask me for another one when their's wear out. I have also taught a few friends how to make them, but many of them just want me to make it for them. And I happily do so.
