Easy

Knitting Needle Size9 or 5.5 mm

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Gauge17 stitches, 23 rows, 4 inches. stocking stitch

Materials:

  • Bernat® Satin Sparkle (80 g/2.8 oz: 146 m/160 yds)1 ball
  • Bernat® Satin (100 g/3.5 oz; 182 m/200 yds) 1 ball
  • Size 5.5 mm (U.S. 9) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Optional: 3 small jingle bells.

 

 

 

Gauge: 17 sts and 23 rows = 4” [10 cm] in stocking st.

 

 

 


Measurements: Approx 7" [18 cm] in diameter.

 

 

 

Abbreviations:

  • Alt = Alternate(ing).
  • Approx = Approximately.
  • K = Knit.
  • K2tog = Knit next 2 stitches
  • together.
  • Rep = Repeat.
  • Sl1 = Slip next stitch knitways.
  • St(s) = Stitch(es).
  • Tog = Together.
  • Yo = Yarn over.

 

 

 

 

Instructions:


Petal Cluster (make 2 with MC and 1 with A).
Cast on 5 sts.
1st and alt rows: Knit.
2nd row: Sl1. yo. K2tog. yo. K2. 6 sts.
4th row: Sl1. (yo. K2tog) twice. yo. K1. 7 sts.
6th row: Sl1. (yo. K2tog) twice. yo. K2. 8 sts.
8th row: Sl1. *yo. K2tog. Rep from * to last st. yo. K1. 9 sts.
10th row: Sl1. *yo. K2tog. Rep from * to last 2 sts. yo. K2. 10 sts.
12th row: As 8th row. 11 sts.
14th row: As 10th row. 12 sts.
16th row: As 8th row. 13 sts.
18th row: As 10th row.14 sts.
20th row: Cast off 10 sts. yo. K2tog. yo. K1. 5 sts.
Rep these 20 rows 3 times more, then rep 1st to 19th rows once. Cast off.


FINISHING
Sew cast on and cast off edges tog to form ring. (See diagrams on page 2). Thread a length of yarn through eyelets at inner edge of each ring to gather ring closed. Stack petal cluster with A on bottom, and 2 MC clusters on top. Sew petal clusters tog at centers. Optional: Sew small jingle bells to center.

How pretty! I have some sparkly red yarn that would look really awesome made up this way. The pattern isn't hard, either and it really doesn't take very much time to make. I will probably make more than one of these. It's a good thing I am starting Christmas early this year!
