Easy

Knitting Needle Size3 or 3.25 mm, 5 or 3.75 mm

Yarn Weight(3) Light/DK (21-24 stitches to 4 inches)

Materials:

  • DK yarn
  • 3.25,, & 3.75mm needles
  • Three buttons
  • Three safety pins (stitch holders)
  • Wool needle for sewing seams

 

Note: To Fit Lots to Love Doll (34-36 cm)

 

BACK / FRONT

Using 3.25 mm needles cast on 37sts and knit 5 rows in single rib.

Change to 3.75 mm needles and work 14 rows in stocking stitch (st st), cast off 1 st at beg of next 2 rows. Continue in st st until work measures 9 cm from cast on edge, ending with a Right Side (RS) row.

 

SHAPE NECK

Next row - p15, turn. Finish this side first. Decrease 1 st at neck edge on next 3 rows and on foll alt row, once. Knit 3 rows in st st. Cast off.

Slip the next 7 sts onto a safety pin, for neck. With Wrong Side (WS) facing, rejoin yarn to rem 15 sts and work to correspond to first side, reversing shaping.

 

LEFT FRONT

*Using 3.25 mm needles cast on 20 sts and knit 4 rows in single rib.

Next Row - Rib 4, M1 (make 1), rib to end.
Next Row - Knit to last 5 sts, rib 5.

Change to 3.75mm needles and knit 12 rows in st st, keeping rib edge going for band, ending with a WS row. Cast off 1 st at beg of next row (armhole). Cont in st st until work measures 9 cm from cast on edge, ending with a RS row.

 

SHAPE NECK

Rib 4 sts and then slip them onto a safety pin for band, cast off 1 st, knit to end. Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 3 rows and then on foll alt row once. Knit 3 rows in st st. Cast off.

Place markers for buttons, the bottom one, three rows from cast on edge, and the top one would be when you knit the neck band. Evenly space the other one (or 2 if using more) between.

 

RIGHT FRONT

Work as for Left Front, reversing shaping and button bands, make a buttonhole in third row (fifth row if using bigger buttons), and again to correspond with markers.

BUTTONHOLE ROW - rib 2, yrn, (yarn round needle) rib 2tog, rib 1, rib to end.

 

NECKBAND

Sew shoulder seams and darn in any loose ends. Using 3.25 mm needles, knit 4 sts from safety pin, and pick up 8 sts to shoulder, 7 sts to pin, 7 sts from pin, 7 sts to holder, 8 sts to holder 4 sts from pin. Knit 3 rows in single rib. Cast off in rib. (bind off)



SLEEVES

Using 3.25 mm needles pick up and knit 32 sts around armhole. Knit 3 rows in single rib. Cast off in rib. Repeat for other sleeve.

 

TO MAKE UP

Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew on buttons. Darn in any lose ends.

The comment below is 2 years old and confusing, as when I opened that first identifying page, the pattern was right there. Two doll sweaters now -- should be able to use up the partial skeins of pretty colours now Thank you
