Housewarming Dishcloth Gift Set

By: Juanita McLellan from The Knit Guru

Looking for a quick last minute gift for new neighbors? The Housewarming Dishcloth Gift Set makes an amazingly thoughtful and practical gift for new and old friends. This sweet set of knit dishcloth patterns simply needs to be tied up with a pretty ribbon for an instant present. This pattern calls for DK weight yarn and 4mm needles, but whichever size needles and yarn weight you have on hand would make an equally charming gift.

This easy-to-do basket weave pattern really shows off the colors in the yarn. The cotton yarn I have is worsted weight so I'll try the pattern using size 7 or 8 needles. With all the self patterning yarns available I'm sure this pattern will look good in any of them.

These colors look so warm and inviting. I think adding stripes to a pattern is a great way to add interest without adding difficulty.

Simple yet beautiful dishcloths to give as a gift, though I would be tempted to keep for myself. The basket weave stitch is an easy k2 p2 repeat the even novice knitters can handle. Knitting dishcloths is a great way to practice your knitting skills and learn how to keep your stitches even. The designer used a DK weight, but these would work up nicely in a worsted weight yarn with 5mm (size 8 US) needles.
