So, I am not as confident as others in knitting and reading patterns. I need to know are these hats knitted in the round? I like how there are no seams when knitting in the round (I use the magic loop method) and hope this is what I can use for these hats. Hope someone can tell me as I want to start making some Preemie hats soon. Thank you.

Hi slouie762 0749106, no, these hats are knitted flat on straight needles, then seamed up the back. Personally I find it difficult to knit something so small in the round on circular needles or double pointed needles. If you want to knit these in the round, though, Im sure you can find another pattern for that.

Okay 3cats2love. I'll use some needles to make these. LOL, guess I am lazy and prefer to knit in the round to avoid having to sew up a seam. Oh yes, I knit small items like this in the round with long circular needles utilizing the magic loop method.

I think you could knit this year using circular needles, unless there's something I'm missing about the pattern. Since there are an uneven number of stitches you'd just have to put one stitch more onto one of the needles. If this isn't possible someone please explain to me why not?

These are cute and actually appropriately sized! Love this pattern. Will be using it for my next round of charity knitting. )

I knit and crochet baby items for a charity, and one of the big needs is hats for premature babies. These patterns are perfect for adding to my pattern list. Plus, these hats are really cute and will make nice donations to give. In addition to solid colors you could make them striped or two-tone.
