Learn how to knit a shrug with this basic, straightforward pattern that will keep you warm when there's a morning chill in the air. This shrug is less bulky than a full sweater, so it's easy to tuck away in a purse as the day warms.

This is a nice simple pattern which you can adjust to the proper length of your arms. I like the fact that it has a video as well. I always feel the more instructions the better. You always pick up additional tips. This will knit up faster and will be good for all seasons inside and outdoors. Thank you.

I am working on this. If you simply shorten the sleeve, then you are using a wrist measurement for a bicep or tricep You have to cast on more stitches for those parts of the body.

Preceding worsted weight yarn to bulky weight, it is easy to convert pattern stitches by first measuring yourself. Then knit a swatch to compare to the stitched swatch of the pattern. Calculate how many more stitches needed for 4" x 4" gauge. You then calculate how many more stitches you need for each row. Since I have over fourth years of knitting experience, I no longer have to make all the calculations. It is wise, even for me to follow the pattern for shaping purposes. Yet, I perfer to design my own.

I'm confused - in the video she says she used worsted weight yarn but the cover page indicates bulky yarn - but I guess with 12 - 15 sts/inch it probably is worsted weight. Want to try this.

Never mind - read the directions and see you use the worsted weight yarn doubled. So could probably substitute bulky too

This simple shrug can be made to be elegant with beads knitted into the pattern or keep it casual as it appears. For casual accessory,, I would knit pattern as is.

This is such a nice little shrug, simple and fast to knit too. I find its perfect to use while sitting at my desk or worktable. It provides just enough warmth across my shoulders to keep me comfortable while leaving my arms and hands free.

LOVE this pattern, and wanted to comment to all of you that the amount of yarn you will need varies from skein to skein. The author of the pattern discovered with the Vanna's choice yarn that each color had different yardage. Start at 4 balls....and for anyone else using a different yarn all together, post what you used and let us know.
