Snowy Scene Cable Hat

search

"Very nice and easy to follow pattern of winter cable hat. It is made for adult size but easy to adjust for baby size as well. I have used soft and bulky yarn that contains 35% wool, 40% acrylic, 25% alpaca. It is also possible to use cotton-acrylic yarn so the hat will be perfect for spring or autumn. For the project you need 1 ball of yarn, 5 Double Pointed Knitting Needles or circular needles. Don't forget about 1 extra needle that you are going to use for cable. At the end just decorate your hat with fluffy pom pom."

Great way to learn double pointed knitting. The featured yarn is still available at the time of this review. But, any (5) Bulky will do, just check your gauge. Pattern is well written and has a lot of tutorial pics, that makes it not particularly printer friendly (hence my less than 5 star rating ... it's all about the ink!). If you've never used DPN or knitted cables before, don't let this stop you from trying. This pattern will walk you through it with ease. Pattern is knitted from the ribbing up which makes for a neater finish. Pompon link is at the bottom or make your own. Sure to keep your head and ears warm!

thank you for pom-pom. it's amazing. I'm thinking to order a family look pom-poms and make these hats for my two daughters. can you make a matching scarf for this hat?

I think you can. Just from reading the pattern, this is what I would do Instead of rounds, knit back and forth (don't join yarn, in other words). Follow the pattern to the where the rounds (rows) start decreasing, and continue those directions until you have 96 stitches left (the same number you had when you started increasing). From there, knit the rib pattern to match the length of the rib at the beginning. That should make a scarf - but I haven't tried this so you may have to make adjustments. If you try this, let us know how it comes out and post a picture if you can. Good luck!

Also, for middle to the scarf, follow the pattern until your scarf reaches the desired length and remember that you'll be adding some more length from the ribbing.

I have never seen such amazing hat. I cant wait to knit it. Thank you for shearing

Super cute design, I have followed your pattern and just finished my version of your hat in "ocean blue" color and it looks awesome! Thanks a lot for sharing such an easy to follow pattern. BTW, I received a pom from you last Thursday and already fixed it on the hat ) Keep inspiring me, cheers from US

I LOVE the design of this hat. It's elegant, yet fun, so it can be worn just about anywhere. The pom also looks super soft.
