I have studied this pattern for a long time... it is very confusing. I understand the customizing part... but the way it is written is very confusing and unclear. Can someone please re-write or clarify the pattern, and the parts 1) Right Neck Band, 2) Right Strap Band, 3) Left Strap Band... can some pictures or diagrams be added for clarification? Has anyone actually knitted this one?

I agree that this is a very confusing pattern, not well written. I too understand the customizing part for size, but it is the basic pattern that is not clear, where it starts, etc. I took it to a Retail store and their expert knitter took a look and saw an error, has made some suggestions that I am trying. So it is a Trial Error pattern for me now. I will keep track of actual steps and can share what actually works if anyone is interested. Has anyone else used this pattern and can share their steps?

Dont see my comment from yesterday so will try again.....I want to knit this for a friend's dog for Christmas....but it is very confusing without knowing how to start!!! I think Step one (casting on) is missing....Can you please let me know how many to cast on, and if there are any other missing steps?? I am a beginner, and don't know how to improvise. Tjhanks.

6 st = 1" measure your dog and see how many inches you need and cast on accordingly. This is not a one size pattern but one you customize to the dog you're making it for.

This pattern doesn't say how many sts to cast on ... I figured 84, but why doesn't state that in the pattern itself ...

arggh wheres the dog blanket pattern?i click dog blanket and it gives me the dog coat.help!

I was wondering the same thing in reverse. I'm seeing a dog sweater and want that pattern, not a blanket.

Hello! Once you click on the pink "Click here for pattern" button, you will see the pattern is called both a dog sweater and a dog blanket. Essentially, it is one pattern with two names - a "wearable blanket/sweater" if you will. Hope this helps! - Kathryn, Editor of AllFreeKnitting
