Knitting Needle Size8 or 5 mm, Circular Knitting Needles

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

  • Premier Yarns Deborah Norville Everyday Soft Worsted (100% anti-pilling acrylic; 113g/203 yds)
    • 100-01 Snow White – 6 balls (MC)
  • Premier Yarns Lash Max (94% acrylic, 6% polyester; 85g/37 yds)
    • 01 Fusion – 2 balls (CC)
  • Needles: US Size 8 (5 mm) 24”, 32” circular knitting needle or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Notions: Stitch markers, tapestry needle

PATTERN NOTES

When working with Lash Max, the “lashes” tend to gravitate toward the back side of the work. For a “furrier” poncho, turn work inside out when finished.

Poncho is worked from the top down.


PONCHO

Turtleneck

With MC, cast on 100 sts, place marker and join to work in the round. Rnd 1: * K2, p2; rep from * to end.
Cont in ribbing until Turtleneck measures 12” from cast-on edge.

Body
Set-up rnd: With CC, k1, pm, k1, pm, * k24, pm, k1, pm; rep from * 3 times, knit to end – 8 markers, evenly spaced.
Rnd 1 (inc): With MC, * knit to m, yo, sm, k1, sm, yo; rep from * around, knit to end – 8 sts inc’d
Rnd 2: With MC, knit.
Rnds 3-8: Rep rnds 1-2.
Rnd 9: Rep inc rnd.
Rnd 10: With CC, knit.
Rnd 11-14: Rep rnds 1-2.
Rnd 15: Rep inc rnd.
Rnd 16: Rep rnd 10.
Rnds 1-16 form stripe patt.
Rep rnds 1-16, 3 more times, and then rep rnds 1-10, one more time – 396 sts.

Garter Stitch Hem
Break CC. Rnd 1: With MC, purl. Rnd 2: Knit. Rep rnds 1-2, 2 more times. Bind off all sts, pwise.

FINISHING
Weave in ends. Block lightly. Fold turtleneck in half to wear.
