  • Bernat® Softee® Chunky (100 g/3.5 oz; 99 m/108 yds)
    • Contrast A (28418 Baby Pink) 4 balls
    • Contrast B (28127 Baby Blue) 3 balls
    • Contrast C (28614 Baby Yellow) 3 balls

 

GAUGE
12 sts and 13 rows = 4" [10 cm] with larger needles in Star St Pat.

Abbreviations:
Approx = Approximately.
Beg = Beginning.
Cont = Continue(ity).
K = Knit.
K2tog = Knit next 2 stitches together.
M1 = Make 1 stitch by picking up horizontal strand lying before next stitch and knitting into back of loop.
P = Purl.
Pat = Pattern.
Rep = Repeat.
RS = Right side.
St(s) = Stitch(es).
WS = Wrong side.

Instructions
Note: Count sts after working WS rows only.
Carry colors when not in use, loosely up side of work.
With A and smaller needle, cast on 92 sts. Do not join.
Working back and forth across needle in rows and noting first row is WS, work 4 rows garter st (knit every row).
Next row: (WS). (K13. M1) 6 times. K14. 98 sts.
Change to larger needle and proceed in pat as follows:
1st row: (RS). With A, K1. *K3. Pass first of 3 knit sts over 2nd and 3rd sts. Rep from * to last st. K1.
2nd row: With B, P1. *Insert right-hand needle from back to front under horizontal strand between st just worked and next st and purl this strand. P2. Rep from * to last st. P1.
3rd row: With B, K2. *K3. Pass first of 3 knit sts over 2nd and 3rd sts. Rep from * to end of row.
4th row: With C, P2. *Insert right-hand needle from back to front under horizontal strand between st just worked and next st and purl this strand. P2. Rep from * to end of row.
5th row: With C, as 1st row.
6th and 7th rows: With A, as 2nd and 3rd rows.
8th row: With B, as 4th row.
9th row: With B, as 1st row.
10th and 11th rows: With C, as 2nd and 3rd rows.
12th row: With A, as 4th row.
Rep these 12 rows for Star St Pat.
Cont in Star St pat until work from beg measures approx 38½" [98 cm] ending on a 12th row of pat. Break B and C.
Change to smaller needle.
Next row: (RS). With A, (K12. K2tog) 6 times. K14. 92 sts.
Work 4 rows garter st. Cast off knitwise (WS).
Side edging: With RS facing, A and smaller needle, pick up and knit 104 sts evenly up side edge of Blanket.
Work 4 rows garter st. Cast off knitwise (WS).
Rep across opposite side edge.
