Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

MEASUREMENT
Approx 9½" [24 cm] in diameter.

MATERIALS

  • Set of four size 4.5 mm (U.S. 7) double pointed knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge.
  • Lily Sugar’n Cream (Solids: 70.9 g/2.5 oz; 109 m/120 yds)
    • Contrast A (01699 Tangerine) 1 ball
    • Contrast B (01740 Hot Pink) 1 ball

GAUGE
20 sts and 26 rows = 4" [10 cm] in stocking st.

 

Instructions
With A, cast on 7 sts.
1st row: (RS). K1. *Inc 1. Rep from * to last st. K1. 12 sts.
2nd and alt rows: Purl.
3rd row: K1. *Inc 1. K1. Rep from * to last st. K1. 17 sts.
5th row: K1. *Inc 1. K2. Rep from * to last st. K1. Break A. 22 sts.
7th row: With B, K1. *K2. yo. Rep from * to last st. K1. 32 sts.
9th row: K1. *K3. yo. Rep from * to last st. K1. 42 sts.
11th row: Knit.
13th row: K1. *K4. yo. Rep from * to last st. K1. 52 sts.
15th row: K1. *K5. yo. Rep from * to last st. K1. 62 sts.
17th row: Knit.
19th row: K1. *K6. yo. Rep from * to last st. K1. 72 sts.
21st row: K1. *K7. yo. Rep from * to last st. K1. 82 sts.
23rd row: Knit.
25th row: K1. *K8. yo. Rep from * to last st. K1. 92 sts.
27th row: K1. *K9. yo. Rep from * to last st. K1. 102 sts.
28th row: Purl. Break B.
29th and 30th rows: With A, knit.
31st row: K1. *K10. yo. Rep from * to last st. K1. 112 sts.
32nd row: Knit.
Work Picot Cast Off as follows: Cast off 2 sts. *Slip rem st back onto left-hand needle. Cast on 2 sts. Cast off 4 sts. Rep from * to end of row. Fasten off rem st.
Sew side seam.

This is a fun pattern to knit in the round. I am not that good on double pointed needles so maybe this would be good practice! I probably would use white instead of the tangerine, or maybe use a self patterning yarn and forget about changing colors, just use it for the whole dish cloth.

i agree gelybean - pattern calls for 4 needles, then proceeds to give directions for knitting on 2 and sewing up seam LOL. Knitting it in the round would require all knit rounds

I think the directions for the Posy dishcloth are incorrect, the purl rows should actually be knit
