This shawl is very pretty, but it does look more like a small scarf than a shawl. I'm new to knitting so I don't think I'm ready for this pattern, but I am saving it for the future. I love scarves, and I make loom knit scarves year round.

I've noticed the same thing, a tendency to call triangular scarves "shawls," not sure why. It's not the kind of shawl you can snuggle in on a cold day, I guess more of a fashion accessory.

I made this shawl a little while ago. Its very pretty, but it took me forever and came out really small. It looks more like a scarf than a shawl. Am I doing something wrong? Ive only been knitting for a short time (since September) and Im wondering, could I have used thicker yarn and bigger needles to make this more shawl-like?

I love the simplicity of this easy to knit shawl. The combination of the plain and variegated sock yarn provides a lot of interest in the simple design. I am certain that this could be scaled up to knit with a heavier weight yarn and bigger needles since the shawl starts with just a few cast on stitches. I do like the light an airy nature of the sock yarn though and will check my stash to see what I have available.

I still am not overly interested in shawls as such, but this looks wonderful as a scarf so I have to knit - and for myself of course if a friend wants it for Christmas, I can be bribed
