Knitting Needle Size10 or 6 mm

Yarn Weight(1) Super Fine (27-32 stitches to 4 inches)

Gauge16 sts = 4” [10 cm] in Open Mesh pattern before blocking. 12 sts = 4” [10 cm] in Open Mesh pattern after blocking. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.

Finished SizeShawl measures 18” [45.5 cm] wide and 58” [147.5 cm] long.

Special Stitches

sk2p (slip, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over) = Slip next stitch as if to knit to right needle, k2tog, lift slipped stitch over the k2tog stitch and off needle – 2 sts decreased.
ssk (slip, slip, knit) = Slip next 2 stitches, one at a time, as if to knit to right needle, insert point of left needle through front of stitches, knit these sts together through back loop – 1 st decreased.

Shawl

Cast on 55 sts.
Begin Open Mesh Pattern
Row 1 (right side): K2, *yo, sk2p, yo, k1; repeat from * to last st, k1.
Row 2: Purl.
Row 3: K1, k2tog, *yo, k1, yo, sk2p; repeat from * to last 4 sts, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k1.
Row 4: Purl.
Repeat Rows 1–4 until piece measures about 58” [147.5 cm] from beginning.
Bind off loosely.

Finishing

Block
Soak shawl in warm water. Squeeze out water. Lay out on towels, stretching or pinning to open up lace and straighten edges.
Weave in ends.
