Candy Shop Textured Knit Scarf

Knitting Needle Size8 or 5 mm

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Gauge14.5 sts = 4” [10 cm]; 23 rows = 4” [10 cm] in Textured st. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.

Finished SizeScarf measures 7” [18 cm] wide x 72” [183 cm] long

Materials List

  • RED HEART® Super Saver®: 2 skeins 1445 Candy Stripe
  • Susan Bates® Knitting Needles: 5mm [US 8]
  • Susan Bates® Crochet Hook: 5mm [US H/8]
  • Yarn needle

Instructions

Scarf

  1. Cast on 25 stitches.

  2. Row 1 (Right Side): K1, *p1, k1; repeat from * across.

  3. Row 2 (Wrong Side): P1 *k1, p1; repeat from * across.

  4. Row 3: Repeat Row 2.

  5. Row 4: Repeat Row 1.

  6. Repeat Rows 1-4 until piece measures 72” from cast on edge.

  7. Bind off all sts.

Finishing

  1. Weave in all ends. 

  2. Fringe
    Cut yarn into ninety 10” [25.5 cm] lengths. Hold 5 strands of yarn together and fold in half forming a loop at one end. *Insert crochet hook into corner of one short edge of scarf and place loop on hook. Draw loop through, insert ends through loop and pull to tighten; repeat from * to attach a total of 9 fringes evenly across edge.
    Repeat for other short edge of scarf.
    Trim fringe evenly.
