How do I save the Bateau Sweater pattern in my new folder?

This yarn is discontinued, but you can still buy it on Amazon!

A great looking boat neck style sweater. I love the color too. Pink used to be my favorite color, but now I am leaning more toward the lavender family, but I guess pink is a part of that also. So glad to find a sweater this cute that is for a beginner. I save beginner patterns to share with my friends.

This is the very first sweater I have done! I used a little heavier yarn, merino but it still looks great! I like this pattern

This is a nice simple pattern which looks complicated. A simple sweater like this is always needed in your wardrobe. You can knit it in solid colors and also in the striping yard as shown. I like to knit the front and back at the same time on a long circular needle. I just keep track of the differences. The same goes for the sleeves. I personally look good in a neckline like this sweater has. It should knit up fast and I will have another beautiful sweater to wear. Thank you.

How did you knit this pattern on a circular needle?

Based on what has been written here, this knitter is casting on two sets of stitches with separate balls on a long circular needle and working both pieces at the same time. This is has been the recommended technique for working slippers for a number of years, so that they come out identical. Hope this helps, happy knitting.

I googled it and found several sources online. Beautiful colors. Can't wait to get started!

I have been looking for a simple sweater pattern that can easily be adjusted for different styles. I am so glad I came upon this one. I see another member has mentioned there is a crochet version as well. I will need to go find it. I love having extra options for my projects!

Ireally love that they made a knit and crochet version of this sweater. I always thought with the crochet version you could just leave the sleeves off to make a tshirt and this pattern you could do the same. This gives you more options with the pattern, but none of my local stores sell this yarn, although I am sure I could find a suitable subsitution at some point.

I remember when bateau necklines were popular but that was really a long time ago. Its nice to see an updated version, and I absolutely love that subtle, self striping yarn. This pattern is so straightforward to knit too with minimal shaping so its very suitable for a person who has mastered stockinette stitch and ribbing.

Hello! I was just wondering how many rows there are for the front and back for the medium sized jersey? I am making a pattern and (attempting) to include an animal of my own design on the front. Thank you!!! ) The jersey looks lovely - can't wait to start!!!

Hey there ThorinFiliKili! Since the number of rows is dependent upon a given length for this project, no exact number was given. However, if your gauge exactly matches theirs, and you knit until the work measures 21 inches for the medium size (minus the ribbing), you should have about 168 rows in both the front and the back. I hope this helps! Happy knitting! -Editors of AllFreeKnitting

Nobody can actually answer your question because the sweater is not done by row, it is done by measurements in inches/centimetres. If you need that info you can figure it out for yourself if you knit to exact gauge then its 32 rows equal 4" a size medium is 21" of ss and 3" of ribbing. so the formula would be 21 divided by 4 times 32 plus however many rows it takes to do the ribbing top and bottom, which is another 3". Hope this helps.

The amount of rows would depend on your gauge, yarn size, and needle size. This pattern is based on gauge and is not row dependent so the number of rows with vary from person to person.

Soooo, if I have 110 (pattern says 115) stitches and I'm already 20 inches long (sleeve) I can bind off? Or should I keep going until I have 115 stitches - then my sleeve would be 23 inches long.

Yes, since the pattern instructs you to bind off at 19".

I very much want to knit this sweater but the yarn, Patons Glam Stripes, is not available in Australia. I have been searching online for the past month but with no success. Is there an American supplier who will delivery to Australia?

Hi pippambc 4434326, We're sorry to hear this yarn isn't available in Australia. Have you tried searching on Amazon.com or Ebay.com? Best of luck! -Editors of AllFreeKnitting
