How to Make a Magic No-Ends Knot

Tying a knot may seem like a simple skill to master, but the magic no-ends knot is a special type of knot that will keep you from having to weave in ends!

This type of knot is perfect for a wide range of knitting patterns from blankets to large shawls that require many skeins. This knot is very secure, so it's also great for high-durability fabrics. When it comes to working with yarn, it is incredibly important to be able to tie a secure knot as quickly as possible.

Instructions

  1. Put your two pieces of yarn side-by-side and pinch them in between your thumb and forefinger about a quarter of an inch from the ends of the yarn.

  2. Take the yarn from your new skein of yarn and wrap it clockwise around your thumb and pinch it with the other strands of yarn.

  3. Wrap the yarn again and put this new wrap of yarn on top (closer to the end of your thumb) of the first wrap.

  4. Take the yarn and bring it in between your thumb and the two ends of yarn.

  5. Take the two ends of yarn and tuck them around the last wrap that you made in step 4.

  6. Tug on the yarn that's attached to the new skein of yarn and remove your thumb. Tighten, and you've got your magic no-ends knot!
