Blue Jeans and Moon Beams Shawl

This pretty knit shawl pattern is a gorgeous shade of blue and is perfect for year-round wear. The best part about the Blue Jeans and Moon Beams Shawl is how versatile it is. You can wear it three different ways! Wear it around your neck like a scarf, around your shoulders like a shawl, or around you waist like a sarong! The unique Blue Jeans and Moon Beams Shawl is a knit accessory that's sure to become a staple in your wardrobe.

Knitting Needle Size6 or 4 mm, Circular Knitting Needles

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Materials:

  • Yarn: Kollage Riveting Sport – 2 skeins. Size shown used 120 grams total. Each successive repeat will take approximately 20 grams). Shown in Dusk Denim & Night Denim, alternating each pattern repeat.
  • Needles: Size 6/4 mm circular needles, interchangeable if possible for changing cord lengths. Feel free to use a larger sized needle for an airier shawl.
  • 4 Stitch markers, or more if you like to separate pattern repeats.


Notes:

  • Main triangle for shawl is made of 2 triangles separated by 1 center stockinette stitch and 3 garter stitches on each edge for the selvedge.
  • Charts show Right Side rows only. Always knit 1st and last 3 stitches on Wrong Side. Purl all other stitches on Wrong Side between selvedge stitches.
  • The charts from B-E indicate instructions for the selvedge stitches, stitches between the 1st & 2nd markers including the increase areas and repeats plus the center stitch.
  • Mirror each row of charts B-E between 3rd and 4th markers plus selvedge stitches for each row of knitting. Center stitch is not mirrored and only knit once per row.
  • Gauge is not important - knit to desired size.


Abbreviations:
Bo: bind off, dbl dec: slip 2 as if to knit, k1, pass both sts over. k: knit, k2tog: knit 2 together, k3tog: knit 3 together, k3togb: knit 3 together through back loop, kfb: knit front and back of same st, p: purl, pm: place marker, RS: right side, sm: slide marker, ssk: slip, slip, knit, st(s): stitch(es), WS: wrong side, yo: yarn over

 

SHAWL
1. Cast on 3 sts and work set-up rows as follows or use set-up chart.
Row 1 (RS): K3.
Row 2: K3.
Row 3: Kfb, k1, kfb.
Row 4: K5.
Row 5: K1, kfb, k1, kfb, k1.
Row 6 and all WS rows: K3, p to last 3 sts, k3.
Row 7: K1, kfb, pm, k1, pm, k1, pm, k1, pm kfb, k1.
Row 9: K3, yo, k1, sm, k1, sm, k1, yo, k3.
Slide all markers as you come to them on further rows.

2. Complete chart A one time.

3. Then alternate charts B-E as desired.

4. When shawl is two inches from final desired length and width, work border chart one time.
