Lime Lightning Linen Scarf

Knitting Needle Size9 or 5.5 mm, Circular Knitting Needles

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Materials:  

  • Universal Yarn Classic Shades (70% acrylic, 30% wool; 100g/180 yds) 736 Neon Lime Surprise – 2 balls
  • US Size 9 (5.5 mm) 36” (or longer) circular or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Tapestry needle
  • US Size 8 (5 mm) crochet hook
  • Smooth waste yarn



Gauge: 14 sts x 30 rows = 4” in Linen St patt



Measurements: Length: 70”, Width: 6”



Instructions:


Slip all stitches purlwise with yarn in front (at the right side of the work).  All rows are worked from the Right Side. After each row, cut yarn and slide sts back to the other end of the needle. Before beginning each row, leave an 8” tail for fringe. After ending a row, cut yarn leaving an 8” tail for fringe.


Stitch Guide
Linen Stitch (even number of sts)
Row 1 (RS): * K1, sl 1; rep from * to last 2 sts, end k2.
Row 2 (RS): K2, * sl 1, k1; rep from * to end.  Rep Rows 1 & 2 for patt.


Scarf
With crochet hook and waste yarn, chain 255 (a few extra chains are included for ease of picking up stitches. With ndls and working yarn, pick up and knit 246 sts through the back of purl bump from chains. Work in Linen Stitch patt until Scarf measures 6” from cast-on edge. Cut yarn, leaving 8” tail. Slide sts to other end of ndl.


I-Cord Bind Off
Bind-off row: Cast on 2 sts to LH ndl. * K1, k2tog tbl, slip these 2 sts back to LH ndl; rep from * until all sts have been bound off. Break yarn, leaving 8” tail, pass through rem 2 live sts, pull taut. Carefully unzip crochet chain, placing resulting live sts on ndl. Rep Bind-off row.


Finishing
Tie fringe together in groups of 5. Trim fringe to 5½”. Weave in ends and block.
