Angerthas Knit Mitts

From the blogger: "As a teenager I was spellbound by J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. I would stay up late learning to read and write dwarvish runes and Elvish words. Inspired by the dwarvish alphabet Tolkien created, these mitts are an engaging knit with visually striking but intuitive cables. They are constructed using a scrap yarn provisional cast-on and knit in the round. The provisional stitches are then placed on a spare circular needle and worked together with the active stitches to create a lovely picot edging. Offered in 3 sizes to fit hands 7 (7.5, 8)”/ 17.75 (19, 20.25) cm around, these mitts use just about half a skein of fingering weight yarn."
